I have oily skin; can I use your Facial Oils?

Certainly! There is a wide misconception that using facial oils on oily skin can make it worse. In fact, oily skin usually means that when the skin is stripped of its natural oils, it goes into overproduction to compensate and causes a build up of sebum (the oily substance produced by your body’s sebaceous glands). Using one of Ella Organics’ facial oils as part of your daily skincare routine, can help replenish your skin’s natural oils, which can keep the levels balanced and over-production at bay.

Are all your products really 100% Organic?

Yes!! They really are. We only use and will only ever use Organic ingredients. We don’t believe in using anything else other than organic, that’s what makes us unique. Unlike many other skincare products found on the market, we are 100% Organic.

What are the benefits of Organic skincare?

Organic ingredients are free from pesticides and herbicides, which also means they are free from contamination, thus your skin is too. Organic farming prohibits the use of artificial chemical fertilisers and GM crops and whilst synthetic ingredients found in non-organic products can be fast acting, they are also invasive, and with prolonged use, can cause potential harm to your skin that cannot be seen. These chemicals may damage and weaken your skin as your body tries to cope with these foreign substances. As a result, oxygen exchange to the skin is reduced, causing premature ageing and the increased risk of developing sunspots. Plants grown organically are found to contain higher levels of antioxidant vitamins than those grown non-organically, and by using organic skin-care products, you ensure that your skin receives the real nutritional benefits from its ingredients.

What is the difference between Natural and Organic?

Natural does not mean organic. Organic farming does not allow the use of synthetic fertilisers, genetically modified (GM) ingredients and herbicides, whereas natural can. ‘Natural ingredients’ or ‘Nature inspired’ might be terms you are familiar with, but their meaning widely varies depending on whom you ask. In fact, ‘natural’ can mean just about anything. Organic on the other hand, means that the product or ingredient is 95% organic or above, unless it’s stated on the packaging what percentage organic it actually really is. Organic farms are one of the most environmentally, socially and economically sustainable methods of production. We only use certified organic ingredients, meaning each and every one of our products are 100% Organic.

Do your products contain any of the following: Preservatives, parabens, water, synthetic fragrances, polyethylene glycol, phthalates, propylene glycol, SLS or essential oils?

The short answer: No. Just 100% Organic ingredients.

Is your collection suitable for use during pregnancy?

With the exception of our Lip Balms (which contains organic beeswax), all of our products contain only Organic plant-based ingredients that should be suitable. None of our products contain essential oils or fragrances, which can sometimes be skin irritants. Expecting mums in particular should avoid these. However, if you are pregnant or breastfeeding and are concerned about whether our products are suitable, we highly recommend that you seek medical advice from a doctor or midwife before purchasing.

Is your packaging sustainable and recyclable?

All of our packaging is suitable for recycling. Our outer cartons are made with 75% recycled card and we use glass bottles so that they can also be easily recycled. Our bubble-wrap is bio-degradable, but can be recycled too. Ella Organics are always looking for better and more sustainable ways of using packaging.

Should I patch test a product before use?

Even though our products are created using only 100% Organic ingredients, we always recommend that customers patch test products before introducing them into their daily skin-care routine. Patch testing ensures your new product agrees with your skin and means that if you were to develop a reaction, you would be able to discover it without causing unnecessary discomfort.

To ensure a successful patch test, apply a small amount to the inside of your elbow and leave overnight before observing results.

Does the appearance of your products vary with each batch?

Due to the fact that we only use 100% Organic ingredients, the colour, texture and consistency may on occasions seem different with each batch. This is perfectly natural and will not affect the products quality in any way whatsoever.

Are all your products suitable for vegans?

With the exception of our range of Lip-Balms which contain organic beeswax, all of our products are vegan friendly. Look for our vegan logo under product description for verification.

Are your products cruelty-free?

Most definitely! Animal testing for ingredients used in cosmetics and for the sale of animal-tested cosmetics was banned in the EU from March 11th 2013 and we believe it rightly so! We never have and never will test any of our products on animals and we ensure all of our ingredients are purchased through companies that strictly adhere to the same principles. Our only testing is conducted on a few lucky volunteers made up of friends and family (all human).
